This paper presents a consideration on the new challenges of living the city of the future, starting from some approaching elements which the BETHA (Built Environment Technologies and Healthy Architectures) research group of the University G. d’Annunzio of Chieti-Pescara is experimenting within its own scientific and didactic activities. The aspects that are intended to be clarified are as follows: - the inter-systemic planning, focused on the integrated quality of the urban environment and of its organizational, infrastructural and technique components, as primary target in order to preserve and enhance the levels of urban livability, in accordance with the increasing levels of complexity and conflicts, typical of the contemporary society; - the valorization of the characteristics of resilience, adaptability and transformability of the urban environment, as preferential vectors to the attainment of differentiated gradients of ecological-environmental, organizational-processing and technological-spatial quality of the system city; the implementation of a process of universal and inter-scalar planning (strategic, tactical and operative) aimed to the improvement of the conditions of safety, access, comfort, identification, management, integration and preservation of the urban environment and to an inclusive vision of all the actors involved in the process of production and transformation of the city spaces.

Abstract
