The course is carried out in the frame of the initiative taken by the Italian presidency of the G8 Nuclear Safety and Security Group (NSSG) to promote an effective cooperation among institutions, academic communities and organizations in order to strengthen the Education & Training and the sharing of best practices for a safe and secure development of a nuclear programme. Undertaking a nuclear power programme is a major commitment requiring, among others, to fully and adequately address the issue of ensuring nuclear Safety, Security and Safeguards (3Ss) which are prerequisite for a high level of nuclear safety. The focus of the course is the development of institutional infrastructure: the legal and regulatory framework, the definition of roles and the establishment of appropriate regulatory role, functions and responsibilities.
