The document deals with analysis performed to extend the domain of applicability of the PIPER-ONE loop. PIPER-ONE was a Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) simulator installed at the Scalbatraio Laboratory managed by Dipartimento di Costruzioni Meccaniche e Nucleari (DCMN, now DICI) of University of Pisa. The original design target for the PIPER-ONE loop was the Small Break Loss of Coolant (SBLOCA) scenario in Boiling Water Reactors (SBLOCA). In the current document an effort was made to demonstrate the applicability of the loop to analyze the Counter Current Flow Limiting (CCFL) phenomenon expected to occur in a variety of accident situations in BWR including SBLOCA and Large Break LOCA (LBLOCA). Scaling analysis, involving consideration of the CCFL phenomenon in the prototype BWR and a preliminary test plan are discussed. In this way the PIPER-ONE originally designed as an Integral Test Facility (ITF) could also be used as a Separate Effect Test Facility (SETF)
