The bases were put in this report for the development of the Uncertainty Method based on Accuracy Extrapolation (UMAE). This became a robust method for evaluating the error expected in computer code applications to the analysis of accident scenarios in Nuclear Power Plants. In the report preliminary steps were put to demonstrate the feasibility of the method: the error calculated in relation to specified parameters in predicting the experiments performed in different scaled Integral Test Facilities (ITF) was ‘extrapolated’ to NPP conditions.
