Relap5 code had been extensively used for the current generation of reactors including simulation of experiments in scaled Integral Test Facilities (ITF) like SPES. A new frontier at this moment is represented by the simulation of phenomena and scenarios expected in advanced Nuclear Power Plants (NPP), so called generation 3 or 3plus. To this aim the SPES-2 facility was designed and operated at the SIET research Center in Piacenza. SPES-2 is an experimental simulator of AP-600. A number of experiments were performed with support of Westinghouse and of USNRC. In the present document some experimental data are used to assess/confirm the capability of Relap5 in predicting phenomena expected in the new generation of reactors. The activity confirmed the suitability of Relap5 in performing safety analysis for AP600 (actually, Relap5 was extensively used for the licensing of AP-1000).
