Following the Uncertainty Method Study (UMS) performed within the framework of Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development / Nuclear Energy Agency / Committee on the Safety of Nuclear Institutions (OECD/NEA/CSNI) uncertainty methods were used for safety analyses and licensing of Nuclear Power Plants (NPP). In this paper a summary is given of main features of uncertainty methods and approaches proposed by the international community. Two main approaches are distinguished, i.e. based upon the propagation of errors of code input parameters and of propagation of code output errors; in the latter case, output errors are generated from the comparison between code results and relevant experimental data.

Abstract
Following the Uncertainty Method Study (UMS) performed within the framework of Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development / Nuclear Energy Agency / Committee on the Safety of Nuclear Institutions (OECD/NEA/CSNI) uncertainty methods were used for safety analyses and licensing of Nuclear Power Plants (NPP). In this paper a summary is given of main features of uncertainty methods and approaches proposed by the international community. Two main approaches are distinguished, i.e. based upon the propagation of errors of code input parameters and of propagation of code output errors; in the latter case, output errors are generated from the comparison between code results and relevant experimental data.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
