The Middle Kingdom (broadly corresponding to the Middle Bronze Age in Near East, 2100-1550 BC) is the classical period of ancient Egyptian art, language, and literature. Therefore both scholars and students are inevitably familiar with the Middle Kingdom, but there are still numerous gaps in the comprehension of its history, archaeology, culture, monumental art and architecture, religion and language which affected in different ways the current state of the art of the research in the Middle Kingdom.
