II.1 Summary comments 1) Phenomena, accident scenarios, components/systems and facilities are different thinks: putting some of those together in the same list or in similar lists (i.e. having the same objective or target for application) may be misleading. 2) Whatever is done at CSNI level (i.e., approved, endorsed, executed by different groups…, etc.) should be safety relevant: prioritization of safety relevance is questionable. 3) Phenomena list (i.e. a ‘new’ one based on ‘old’ documents; ‘116 phenomena identified’) is now available (topic of agenda item 7, see below). 4) Research prioritization (in TH applicable to other areas) may reveal necessary and may need efforts & resources (topic of agenda item 6, see below). 4 Furthermore, 5) In relation to TH: any facility in thermal-hydraulics may be used to optimize several phenomena & several phenomena are unavoidably interconnected (… so, in some cases/situations prioritization of phenomena is useless). 6) In relation to Fuel (but also relevant to TH): USNRC has issued (still draft!) RG 1.222, RG 1.223 and RG 1.224: these should be considered. 7) The definition of items appears not fully consistent: for instance facilities are part of the TH table and two tables are used for fuel and (related) facilities.
