Sulla 'Heimatlosigkeit' degli ebrei da Julius Langbehn a Jean Améry e Peter Weiss

Speaking of Heimatlosigkeit in relation to the Jewish people can at first glance appear redundant in light of the fact that until the foundation of Israael, the Jews were a people in exile and without an autonomous country. In reality, the situation of the Jews living in German-speaking territories in the late 1800s and 1900s deserves a historical rendering of the concept rather than a tout court identification with the diaspora, although the two partly coincide. The hypothesis of the research presented her shows that it is possiblo to establish the main coordinates of a vast, clearly-defined historical-literary path from the end of the 1800s to almost the 1970s (with occurrences in successive decades). Starting with some significant examples of shared ideas, the aim of the research is to identify, within the conisdered time period, the constants and variables of the Heimatlosigkeit of the Jews in order to historically document the meanings and judgments consistent with this term. Addressing the theme in a systemic manner also provides a useful guide for future analysis and an understanding of a very ample and diverse body of texts. The topic is of crucial importance for the the geographic and linguist area of interest of "Jews and Judaism in Other Cultures".
