The Platone in Italia is a milestone in Vincenzo Cuoco’s historical and political thinking. The choice of the novel as a form of expression is rooted in the pedagogical relevance assigned to literature by Cuoco, who considered the novel to be more effective than the short form of the journal articles which, at that time, he nonetheless used to pursue political action.
