Some compositions of the Cancioneiro Geral de Resende (1516), especially those of circumstance or entertainment, decline the geographical space in terms that seem to be constant in the Portuguese ideological history. The intervention intends to verify how much of the late fifteenth-century positions on expansion is at the base of the rhetoric propagated by the “euphoric” and “dysphoric” literature on the expansion of the empire.
