The present paper addresses the function and the distribution of the dative clitic pronoun in some Calabrian dialects in the area of Cosenza. Specifically, the constructions including the clitic are analysed in combination with: 1) variable behaviour verbs, 2) inherently atelic verbs, 3) inherently telic verbs. The results of the study reported here show that the dative clitic represents a strategy to systematically encode interface semantics and, in particular, semantic properties of the verb phrase, including actional features such as telicity, and features defining the relationship between the predicate and its arguments and between the arguments, such as individuation, affectedness and possession.
