An innovative double mover tubular induction machine is proposed for high thrust force applications. A dedicated semi-Analytical model provides the evaluation of all the motor parameters and electromechanical quantities. Under hypotheses that are valid in several operating conditions, the model takes into account the effects due to the limited length of the active part of the stator, allowing a fast and accurate description of the device, which is essential for an effective design. The results by the semi-Analytical model are validated by comparison with the finite element analysis of the device. The good agreement makes the semi-Analytical model a valuable tool for the preliminary design.

Abstract

An innovative double mover tubular induction machine is proposed for high thrust force applications. A dedicated semi-Analytical model provides the evaluation of all the motor parameters and electromechanical quantities. Under hypotheses that are valid in several operating conditions, the model takes into account the effects due to the limited length of the active part of the stator, allowing a fast and accurate description of the device, which is essential for an effective design. The results by the semi-Analytical model are validated by comparison with the finite element analysis of the device. The good agreement makes the semi-Analytical model a valuable tool for the preliminary design.
