The “case study” of oppositions to organs and tissues’ donation in Tuscany: carring out an ethnographic fieldwork in a team. Based on interdisciplinary and applied research, this article focuses on the contribution that cultural anthropology can offer to the understanding of a complex social context such as that related to organ and tissue donation in Tuscany. This context is characterized by stratified norms and regulations, value systems, imagery, work cultures, established practices, languages and knowledge, roles and status, within which multiple social subject move: on the one hand the teams of healthcare professionals, on the other, patients, relatives and friends. The former act in contexts characterized by everydayness and the routine of working time, characterized by specialized knowledge, languages and techniques; the latter, by the urgency and exceptionality of disease, hospitalization, death. The aim of this article is to discuss the role that cultural anthropology can play in the dialogue with other forms of knowledge and with other research methods. Basato su un percorso di ricerca interdisciplinare e applicata, l’articolo si concentra sul contributo che l’antropologia culturale può offrire alla comprensione di un contesto sociale complesso quale quello relativo alla donazione di organi e tessuti in Toscana. Questo contesto è caratterizzato da dispositivi normativi stratificati, sistemi valoriali, immaginari, culture del lavoro, prassi consolidate, linguaggi e saperi, ruoli e status, all’interno dei quali si muovono molteplici soggetti sociali: da una parte le equipe di professionisti della sanità, dall’altra i pazienti, i familiari e le rispettive cerchie parentali, amicali e affettive. I primi agiscono in cornici spazio-temporali connotati dalla quotidianità e dall’abitudinarietà del tempo lavorativo, caratterizzato da conoscenze, linguaggi e tecniche specialistiche; i secondi invece dall’urgenza e dall’eccezionalità di una malattia, di un ricovero, di un decesso e di un lutto. L’obiettivo di questo articolo è discutere il ruolo che in tale contesto di ricerca l’antropologia culturale può avere dialogando con altri saperi e con altri metodi.
