Alexander, Sociologie della Memoria edited by Anna Lisa Tota, Trever Hagen and Lia Luchetti, Memorie del Futuro by Paolo Jedlowski and Sette modi di dimenticare by Aleyda Assmann – is the paper to reflect on the trauma, on its ‘empire’, on the victimary paradigm (Fassin and Rechtmann 2009) and on its antecedent: the witness’ era (Wieviorka 1998). The goal is to connect the scientific discourse on memory and the scientific discourse on trauma by enhancing their social and cultural dimensions.
