In this paper, through the combined analysis of textual and cartographic documentary sources, the accurate geographical boundaries of place names in the Community of Montescudaio have been identified to the date of the activation of Ferdinandeo-Leopoldino Land Registry. The recent account and examination of previously unpublished archival sources allowed the identification of new and useful toponymic documents that have been georeferenced, using GIS applications. After converting to vector maps all the cadastral parcels reported on the georeferenced maps in the context of the CASTORE project, the place names identified in the Preparatory Tables were then linked to the polygons and overlapped with the Tuscan toponymy layer, called RETORE.

Abstract
In this paper, through the combined analysis of textual and cartographic documentary sources, the accurate geographical boundaries of place names in the Community of Montescudaio have been identified to the date of the activation of Ferdinandeo-Leopoldino Land Registry. The recent account and examination of previously unpublished archival sources allowed the identification of new and useful toponymic documents that have been georeferenced, using GIS applications. After converting to vector maps all the cadastral parcels reported on the georeferenced maps in the context of the CASTORE project, the place names identified in the Preparatory Tables were then linked to the polygons and overlapped with the Tuscan toponymy layer, called RETORE.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
