La crisi del capitalismo industriale e la trasformazione economica nei paesi in via di sviluppo. Il caso dell'area MENA.

The crisis of Fordism and the almost simultaneous increases in oil prices in the seventies generated a surplus of capital in the producing countries. This situation inaugurates a period of development,aimed at improving the quality of life of the local population of the MENA area : above all through interventions in infrastructures and transport. In the producing countries of the region,the oil wealth also changed the type of imports which began to be based on the growing demand for tools necessary to carry out infrastructure development projects, as well as consumer goods. The expansion of these sectors, however ,implied a greater dependance from foreign technical assistance. Starting from the mid-eighties, with the exception of Iraq,the potential of Arab countries in the area, in terms of development, will be directed towards an attempt to partecipate in the international economy : release from oil and interventions on the global financial market (from gate to gateway).
