The post-industrial reorganization of the European Union during the 1980s and 1990s generated new urban forms and new centralities. In particular,the establishment of European Community offices has resulted in a transformation of the urban structure mainly in Brussels,Luxembourg and Strasbourg. The location of the Community institutions has produced consequences that are not only urban planning but more widely geographical : for example, the demographic dynamics towards the outskirts of Brussels is strongly characterized by the presence of European officials in the city center who, being able to rent high ,contribute to the increase in real estate market prices. Furthermore, the tertiary sector has recorded a considerable increase and this has influenced the distribution of professional activities.
