The paper proposes a new re-reading of Gadda’s Quer pasticciaccio brutto de via Merulana by analyzing some cases of Dantean intertextuality and all devil-related representations within the novel. While discussing the split between the plot, which is centrifugal, and the demoniac rhetorical devices, which are centripetal and symmetrizing, the author attempts to shed new light on crucial critical issues such as the play of culpability and the supposedly unaccomplished ending of the novel.

Abstract
The paper proposes a new re-reading of Gadda’s Quer pasticciaccio brutto de via Merulana by analyzing some cases of Dantean intertextuality and all devil-related representations within the novel. While discussing the split between the plot, which is centrifugal, and the demoniac rhetorical devices, which are centripetal and symmetrizing, the author attempts to shed new light on crucial critical issues such as the play of culpability and the supposedly unaccomplished ending of the novel.File in questo prodotto:
