A longitudinal survey on lung symptoms and diseases (CNR questionnaire) and lung function (forced vital capacity and derived indexes; CO diffusing capacity) has been carried out in a group of furniture plant workers. The incidence rate of lung symptoms and diseases was lower than in other studies. The mean annual decline of FEV 1 (-47 ± 81 ml/year) was similar to that found in other studies: on the contrary, no differences were found among smoking categories. No relationship between decline of FEV 1 and a longer working exposure was observed owing to the kind of work, mainly at the assembly line. On the other side the low percentage of subjects reinvestigated (64%) and the short interval between the two observations (4 years) may represent a bias of this longitudinal study.

Abstract
On the other side the low percentage of subjects reinvestigated (64%) and the short interval between the two observations (4 years) may represent a bias of this longitudinal study.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
