Agora theatre in Lelystad

UNStudio reconstructed the image of a theatre quite different from the traditional European one, passed down to us over the centuries. Rather than placing different volumes next to the scenic tower, the choice was made to give the construction a sculptural form with multi-faceted surfaces that gives viewers a moiré effect through a series of perforated plates. The edges, corners and even flat surfaces of this diamond are clad in steel and glass in hues of yellow and orange, reproducing the colors of the sky at sunset.

UNStudio ricompone l'immagine di un teatro assai diverso da quello che la tradizione europea ci ha consegnato nel corso dei secoli. Anziché l'addossamento dei volumi differenti ad una torre scenica, si preferisce conferire una forma scultore alla costruzione dalla superficie sfaccettata, capace di generare, attraverso una serie di lamiere forate, un effetto moiré sull'osservatore. Gli spigoli, gli angoli, le stesse superfici piane di questo diamante sono rivestite in acciaio e vetro nelle tonalità del giallo e dell'arancio riproducendo i colori del cielo al tramonto.
