Abstract

Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans are today implemented in all most important European Urban Areas. The change in mobility habits towards sustainable transport modes is one their main objective. Methodologies to achieve this goal are differents and span from restrictions and payments for access to urban area (the stick) to rewarding systems (the carrot). The analysis carried out on the use cases shows how in recent years the ‘carrot action type’ has seen a great development even if, to date, there are few truly applicative and correctly applied solutions. The article highlights different use cases describing their pros and cons with a special attention to rewarding framework and technologies.
