The purpose of this essay is to discuss some plans to build the development in West Africa through the consolidation of democracy. Upon indipendence,the countries of the community got the principles of capitalism and Marxism,which are foreign to africans. Africa needs an authentic, African-centered and place-based development. The author suggests that other concrete initiatives such as decentralization, political education,territorially organized political parties for the domestic level and the role of the community (ECOWAS) to support and monitoring (ECOMOG) political and economic issues on the transnational side can be the pillars of a real building process of development with a revival of a Pan (west) Africanism too.
