In this paper, we address the function and distribution of the so-called “prepositional accusative” in some dialectal varieties in the province of Cosenza, in Northern Calabria, with the aim of understanding how inherent and relational properties of the verbal argument in the object function, such as animacy, individuation and affectedness, interact with certain interface semantic properties of the verb phrase. the results of our study show that telicity cooccurs with object features in the selection of prepositional accusative, and the contexts in which this selection is exclusive are those involving a correspondence between object animacy and object individuation.
