The article focuses on the figure of the Anglo-Irish poet Louisa Grace Bartolini (Bristol 1818-Pistoia 1865) and on her patriotic poetic production. The first part outlines the writer’s biographical profile and reconstructs, using unpublished papers and letters kept in the Biblioteca Marucelliana of Florence, the relationships that Grace Bartolini entertained with various figures of the nineteenth-century Tuscan cultural landscape. The second part discusses Louisa Grace Bartolini’s Italian poetic production which draws directly on the patriotic and historical repertoire of Risorgimento poetry and which can be interpreted as her attempt at cultural and linguistic assimilation.
