Lying and the related feeling of shame are typically associated with the color red. However, there is a broader chromatic range associated with lies, which encompasses white, black and various colors in between, depending on the gravity of lying. Due to complex interactions of social and historical factors, this scale manifests itself differently from culture to culture and, therefore, from language to language.

Abstract

Lying and the related feeling of shame are typically associated with the color red. However, there is a broader chromatic range associated with lies, which encompasses white, black and various colors in between, depending on the gravity of lying. Due to complex interactions of social and historical factors, this scale manifests itself differently from culture to culture and, therefore, from language to language.
