The paper, dedicated to Mauro Volpi, examines the theme of forms of government, particularly from the theoretical point of view as well as the identification of general models, in order to classify them, taking into account both the structural elements and dynamics of the functioning of the various experiences. A survey is then made of the questions most controversial in doctrine regarding the models of parliamentary, presidential and semipresidential forms of government.
