This article examines the representations of cities in films set in the Middle Ages. In many cases, the importance of cities is understated and their representation contrasts with the extensive urban development during the period. This paper explores the factors that contribute to the dearth of cinematic representations of the Medieval city and identifies alternate cinematic contexts where these cities have been portrayed.
