A fictile head and three marble portraits. 19th-century Pisan microhistories. The finding in Pisa, during an archaeological excavation, of a fictile head, provides the opportunity to add a further facet to the biography of Girolamo Marconi, a still lit-tle known Pisan sculptor, and to tell the story of Pietro Bagnoli, a peculiar figure of intellectual who lived in the first half of the 19th century, able to combine his liberal ideas and the aspiration to a free and united Italy with absolute loyalty to the Grand Duke of Tuscany.

Abstract
A fictile head and three marble portraits. 19th-century Pisan microhistories. The finding in Pisa, during an archaeological excavation, of a fictile head, provides the opportunity to add a further facet to the biography of Girolamo Marconi, a still lit-tle known Pisan sculptor, and to tell the story of Pietro Bagnoli, a peculiar figure of intellectual who lived in the first half of the 19th century, able to combine his liberal ideas and the aspiration to a free and united Italy with absolute loyalty to the Grand Duke of Tuscany.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
