Abstract
Fish resources are increasingly drawn into global networks of production, trade and consumption. The study focuses, first, on how pollock , from the Pacific Ocean, has been drawn into transnational production chains as a result of the establishment of 200-mile exclusive economic zones, which have encouraged globalized forms of ocean-resource based economic activity. Efforts to assert national control over ocean territory facilitated processes of globalization, which include joint venture partnerships, foreign direct investment and increased international trade. Studying how global industries are constituted through economic, political, socio-cultural and environmental practises highlights the ways that globalization is about heterogeneity and multiple geographies of connection and separation.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
