The dynamics of the linguistic interference between Brazilian Portuguese and Italian may or may not influence the acquisition of Portuguese as a heritagelanguage? Sociolinguistics forms the theoretical basis of this article in order to understand the perception of Brazilian parents about the sociolinguistic and cultural distances between the two languages. From a questionnaire made with the parents, it isevident some common points in the language-culture binomial that may or may not interfere in the process of maintaining Portuguese as a heritage language in an Italian-speaking context.
