Abstract

The worker safety is a crucial requirement in Industry 4.0 applications and lots efforts are continuously performed to improve the quality of work. That is, the knowledge of the real-time position of worker represents a key point when developing solution for safety. This paper presents a synthetic aperture radar (SAR) localization method which exploits the passive UHF-RFID technology in the framework of the SENERGY Project, founded by the National Institute for Insurance against Accidents at Work (INAIL). Thanks to an antenna moving above the machinery assembly and passive UHF-RFID tags installed on the worker Personal Protective Equipment, the operator position can be measured by facing a constrained minimization problem. Then, a Monte Carlo analysis is performed to evaluate the uncertainty in the position measurements.
