Aloysius Razzuoli fecit: : un maestro argentiere a Farnocchia

The village of Farnocchia emerged at the end of 18th century as a crucible of silvermiths, thanks to the work of the brothers Luigi and Michel Angelo Razzuoli, that later moved to Pietrasanta, this representing a proof of their professional success. In the last four decades, their work has gained academic attention as the liturgical silverware they created has been identified in almost every church in the Versilia area. The present paper shows that not only they were prolific artists, but also generous sponsors of one of the lunettes painted by Luigi Ademollo in the cloister of San Francesco, in Pietrasanta.

Il paese di Farnocchia si segnala alla fine del XVIII secolo come sorprendente crogiuolo – in senso letterale – per l’arte orafa, grazie all’operosità dei fratelli Luigi e Michel Angelo Razzuoli, il cui successo li portò poi a spostarsi a Pietrasanta. Emersi all’attenzione degli studi circa quarant’anni fa, la loro produzione ha arricchito di argenti liturgici praticamente tutte le chiese della Versilia storica. Oltre che prolifici artisti, si rivelano ora anche munifici finanziatori di una delle lunette dipinte da Luigi Ademollo a Pietrasanta nel chiostro del convento di San Francesco con storie dello stesso santo.
