Rocca Colonna a Castelnuovo di Porto: un presidio fortificato nel paesaggio della valle tiberina

The center on Tiber valley have a landscape dimension that today represents a particular element into the characterization and perception of historical urban contexts. This area owns a specific morphology made by tuffaceous rocks and the typical landscape of alluvial plains, marked by Tiber’s river. Castelnuovo di Porto is a small village in the north of Rome situated in Veio Park, that preserves, even today, its original urban structure. The paper aims to highlight how the enhancement and re-use of the Rocca, inside the brought, must be evaluated in line with the landscape in the overall meaning by proposing, from one side, the protection and conservation of some naturalistic aspects such as the wide band of respect (between the Via Flaminia, the church of San Sebastiano and Valle Linda), panoramic frame and green lung of the village, and on the other, design hypotheses that integrate built and natural landscape.
