Tramadol is an opioid centrally acting analgesic used in the two last decades to trait pain in humans. This review takes into account the PK/PD data in different tramadol formulations administered to humans. Since T has been recently suggest as potential molecule for long term therapy in chronic pain in animals, an evaluation of its PK/PD data in several animal species is also reported.
