In 2022, the Department of Civilizations and Forms of Knowledge at the University of Pisa started archaeological research in piazza Andrea del Sarto, an area already known for Etruscan and Roman fnds. The relevance of the site has recently been confrmed by rescue archaeology interventions carried out by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage. The research revealed a long-standing frequentation, at least from the Hellenistic age to the early Middle Ages. In particular, the remains of one or more domus were investigated, characterized by fctile-based cement foor with lithic inserts, a type widely attested in the nearby piazza del Duomo. The research thus offers an opportu nity to gather new data useful for understanding the extent of the city and its relationship with the suburbs
