The mobility of scholars is one of the most characteristic features of late antique culture, attested both to figures of high professional level (the so-called wandering poets) and to students, grammatikoi and ‘local scholars’. This paper deals in its first part with an inscription dedicated to a student (IG II/III2 13532 = 12473), offering a new interpretation of it; the second part examines inscriptions that show the presence in the West of the so-called ‘modern style’ of late Greek poetry, produced by local intellectuals who studied in the East, or by migrating Greek scholars (I.Leptis 63, 86; SEG XXXV 1055; IGUR 1149, 1638, 149, 69, 63, 61; LSA 1515; SEG XXXIV 1003; IGTrev. 5, 6).

Abstract
5, 6).I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
