During the second half of the 19th century, the Real Academia Española deepened the reflection concerning etymologies, synonymy, technicalities and neologisms. In the field of Fine Arts, the lexicon of architecture, closely linked to that of construction, is one of the most important; this contribution studies the new entries relating to architecture in the three dictionaries published in 1869 and 1884, with particular reference to their neological quality and to the lexicographic and textual sources with which the entries are related.
