The work analyzes the most important results reached by the Commission inside the Reports (2020, 2021 and 2022) “Chapter about the rule of law in Italy”. The paper attempts to answer the following question: is the law a sufficient tool to guarantee the maintenance of the rule of law? In order to do it, the paper provides a short analysis of the rule of law’s notion and methodology used by the European Commission for the preparation of the Reports and explores the various issues analyzed by the EU Commission.

Abstract
