This book provides a full description of the language used by Francesco Petrarca in his vernacular works, the "Rerum vulgarium fragmenta" (or Canzoniere) and the "Triumphi", with the analysis of the graphic-phonetic system, the morphological, syntactic and textual structures and the lexicon. The composite features and cultural character of Petrarch's language emerge from the investigation: Petrarch gives life to a language that is only apparently simple and homogeneous, but in reality is a hybrid of contemporary and archaic Florentine forms, of Dantisms, Tuscanisms and Latinisms, and is crossed by syntactic strains that are not immediately evident. The study is completed by a selection of annotated texts.
Il volume offre una descrizione della lingua impiegata da Francesco Petrarca nelle sue opere volgari, i "Rerum vulgarium fragmenta" (o Canzoniere) e i "Triumphi". Allo studio del sistema grafico-fonetico e dell’assetto morfologico si affianca l’analisi delle strutture sintattiche e testuali e del lessico. Dall’indagine emergono la natura composita e il carattere culturale della lingua di Petrarca, che dà vita a un tessuto linguistico solo in apparenza piano e omogeneo, ma in realtà ibrido di forme fiorentine coeve e arcaiche, di dantismi e di toscanismi, nutrito di latinismi e percorso da tensioni sintattiche non immediatamente evidenti. Lo studio è completato da un'antologia di testi commentati.
