Giacomo Casanova spent the last part of his life in Dux, Bohemia, as the librarian of the Count of Waldstein. There, he began to write his memories, a work which – unlike his previous ones – determined his inclusion in the canon of Seventeenth-century authors. Such recognition, however, arrived only much later, when the Histoire de ma vie was published in prestigious book series such as «I Meridiani» and «La Bibliothèque de la Pléiade». The aim is to retrace some of the most important steps and milestones that lead to this posthumous success, and to have a better understanding of the last few years of the knight of Seingalt.

Abstract
Giacomo Casanova spent the last part of his life in Dux, Bohemia, as the librarian of the Count of Waldstein. There, he began to write his memories, a work which – unlike his previous ones – determined his inclusion in the canon of Seventeenth-century authors. Such recognition, however, arrived only much later, when the Histoire de ma vie was published in prestigious book series such as «I Meridiani» and «La Bibliothèque de la Pléiade». The aim is to retrace some of the most important steps and milestones that lead to this posthumous success, and to have a better understanding of the last few years of the knight of Seingalt.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
