Abstract
An important role in the energy transition is played by electrification which can can grant a cleaner and more sustainable energy transition when renewable energy sources are used. This paper proposes an innovative Linear Tubular Permanent Magnet Generator specifically designed to be used as a Wave Energy Converter. Among the various renewable sources, sea wave energy has a great potential to significantly contribute to the world's energy production, being concentrated, predictable, available, and, as for the onshore production plants, close to the users. Since wave motion is inherently oscillatory, the use of linear generators offers several advantages in terms of efficiency and reliability. The proposed linear generator is characterized by a modular stator and a double mover. The novel structure of the device grants various advantages not only during the operating time of the machine, but also during its manufacturing and maintenance. Moreover, its structure allows us to reach also some environmental benefits also during its decommissioning. A scaled prototype of the proposed device has been realized, and some preliminary experimental tests have been conducted.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
