The Committee on the Safety of Nuclear Installations of Nuclear Energy Agency part of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (shortly, OECD/NEA/CSNI) has an internationally recognized role in the development and improvement of Nuclear reactor Thermal Hydraulic (NTH) technology since the 60′s. This is testified by a variety of activities mostly dealing with applications to Nuclear Power Plants (NPP) mainly including procedures, e.g. Verification and Validation (V&V), scaling and uncertainty, and also covering modeling improvement and pioneering efforts. The focus of the present paper is towards Specialist Meetings (SM) which were organized since 1976. Namely a dozen SM deal with NTH and are mentioned here. Although an attempt is made to provide an overview of all those meetings, the attention is directed towards “Aix-en-Provence 1992” and “Annapolis 1996” because of their strategic role in the area of NTH and other motivation given in the paper. The main conclusion is that progress in NTH following “Annapolis 1996” has been slow although key accomplishments have been reached in areas proposed in that SM.
