Abstract

Chiusi (Siena). In the years following the Greek-Gothic War, Bishop Florentinus tied his name to a basilica building, a part of which survived in today's cathedral dedicated to the martyr of Centumcellae, Secondiano. An epigraph underlines his commission, characterized by a meditated reuse of spolia, by an iconographic program realized on some pulvinus and by the didactic role of the inscriptions.
