In September 1875 the abbot palethnologist Gaetano Chierici explored the island of Montecristo (Tuscan archipelago). The notes and sketches drawn at the time were prepared in a text of wich was given a public reading at a conference held at the Club Alpino (C.A.I.) on the evening of April 30, 1883. The paper presents for the first time the transcription, with reproduction of unpublished drawings of the Grotta del Santo (S. Mamiliano).
