The present study aimed to determine the catch efficiencies of four models of traps for Octopus vulgaris in the eastern Ligurian Sea: cylindrical trap, semiconical trap, clay pot and pvc pot. Although a total of 20 species were collected, more than 91% of the total biomass caught was due to O. vulgaris. The highest yields of the target species were obtained in autumn/winter with the two types of traps.
