Abstract
In order to try and to develop the rules established in the Republic, the praise of the ideal city finds space in the Timaeus and Critias. Socrates asks for the encomium of the ideal state: with the Atlantis’ story, Plato outlines the literary framework of the praise. Aim of this paper is to analyse the typical structures of the praise, based upon Aristotle’s Rhetoric, in relationship with Isocrates’ epideictic speeches. We could recognize not only a very similar praxis, but more broadly the same way, that both Plato and Isocrates follow: a new poetics for a new παιδεία.File in questo prodotto:
