The project has the aim to create two parks with different connotations. One is a commemorative "memorial" park located where the Camp is and offering a sense of tragedy and solemnity; the other is a naturalistic-agricoltural type of park designed to re-create three almost-extinct ecosystems: the Padano wood, a wet area, and the agricoltural area with the same ancient roman “centuratio” geometrical layout of the fields. What remains of the original structure in the New Camp is the group of prisoners' barracks located next to via Remesina. There is a new building next to the group of preserved historical buildings which consists of two semicircular bodies. One incorporates two accurately reconstructed barracks. On its east side there is a large parking and a commerative place.
Il progetto prevede la realizzazione di due parchi con differenti connotazioni. Il primo di carattere monumentale, coincide con il Campo ed è concepito come “parco delle rimembranze”, in grado di offrire senso di tragedia e di solennità ; il secondo è di tipo naturalistico agricolo ricreando tre ecosistemi quasi scomparsi: il bosco padano, l’ambiente umido e l’area agricola memore della centurazione romana. Di tutto il complesso del Campo nuovo rimane soltanto solo il gruppo di baracche per prigionieri poste su via Remesina. Accanto al gruppo di edifici storici conservati sorge un nuovo fabbricato adibito a museo e composto da due corpi semicircolari incorpora parte di due baracche, in quel punto fedelmente ricostruite. Ad est è posto un grande parcheggio ed un luogo commemorativo.
