The contemporary time is marked by the rationality of science and of technol-ogy, simbolized by the algorithms, but many positive or negative opinions on the power of technology appear to be irrational. For example, Artificial Intelli-gence is often compared with – and it is found better than – the human intelli-gence. The paper tries to investigate the reasons of irrationality in the expecta-tions towards the A.I. and the digital technology. In part they are due to the perceived power of technology, in part to the effect of the public communica-tion. The capacity for government of the technology helps to overcome irration-ality, as suggested by Romano Guardini, and the vision of technological human-ism aids to face with digital technologies in a realistic way.

Abstract
The contemporary time is marked by the rationality of science and of technol-ogy, simbolized by the algorithms, but many positive or negative opinions on the power of technology appear to be irrational. For example, Artificial Intelli-gence is often compared with – and it is found better than – the human intelli-gence. The paper tries to investigate the reasons of irrationality in the expecta-tions towards the A.I. and the digital technology. In part they are due to the perceived power of technology, in part to the effect of the public communica-tion. The capacity for government of the technology helps to overcome irration-ality, as suggested by Romano Guardini, and the vision of technological human-ism aids to face with digital technologies in a realistic way.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
