This article focuses on the presence of epistolary fiction in Svevo's narrative, exploring its function within Una vita, Senilita, La coscienza di Zeno and Continuazioni, where letters are used from time to time as propulsive elements for the plot, failed and unreliable instruments of communication, narrative operators that connect internal readers with the external reader. The aim of the article is to compare Svevo's epistolary vocation with the monologuing attitude of his characters.
